अहमदाबाद का गणेश वंदना परिवार पिछले नौ वर्षों से मिट्टी से गणेश जी की मूर्तियाँ बनाता रहा है और इस पार्थिव शिल्पकलासाधना के माध्यम से भारतीय कला, विद्या, योग, आयुर्वेद, अर्थशास्त्र, सौंदर्यबोध इत्यादि के विषय में सार्वजनिक जागरूकता की वृद्धि का कार्य भी निरंतर चलता आ रहा है।

Every year during Ganesh Chaturthi, we make Ganesh ji’s Murtis from natural clay obtained from the potter, sourced from farms, rivers, ponds, lakes etc. These Murtis are beautifully crafted by hand (not in the mold unless until very urgent) and the colour applied on them is also natural, prepared from clay and stones obtained directly from nature. The work starts tentatively around the Amavasya of Ashadh month (approximately a month and a half before Ganesh Chaturthi) and goes on till Ganesh Chaturthi.

Kala Katha is meant to be a platform for the traditional arts and crafts which are fast being forgotten. We wish to showcase many of the art and craft forms still preserved in various parts of the country by arranging small Introductory Workshops wherein various art enthusiasts can come and learn about the art / craft from the artist / craft person directly. Kala Katha shall also help the artists / craft persons arrange the Exhibitions of their products, while ensuring that the Katha behind the Kala is also preserved.

The production, consumption and dumping of cement – all three are highly polluting. They pollute soil, water and air to a great degree. Moreover, cement is not renewable, not long lasting and not even bio-degradable. All the great ancient buildings which are standing tall against the test of time were built using local natural materials.

PLANTATION

With the fast reducing green cover, it is important to keep planting more and more trees. Simultaneously, it is also important to make sure that the trees already planted are not uprooted / chopped down in the name of development. Should you wish to do any plantations, do reach out to us. We will be happy to do the plantation on your land. It is also advisable that only the native trees are planted.

This is a form of wood sculpture art practiced mainly in Telangana nowadays. Two of us were fortunate enough to learn this art from their Guruji Shri Ravindra Sharma Ji at Kala Ashram, Adilabad. In Nakkashi, soft wood is used and natural, home made glue from Tamarind seeds is used to bind the wood blocks together. At Nisargayan, we make wooden sculptures and Murtis using this method and should you wish to learn, we will be happy to facilitate.

Nowadays, we take great care of what to eat and what not to eat. We prefer Organic Foods, which is a very good habit, but what often goes unnoticed is what we wear. The outfits made from the synthetic fibers are certainly not skin friendly and they can also affect the overall heath and fitness of our bodies. If you are interested in making the outfits on your own, we can teach you to make the sliver (Puni) from native cotton plucked from the farm, spin the sliver (Puni) on Charkha and make cotton yarn and also weave the cloth on handloom from the cotton yarn.

What is interesting is that many of them are important herbs, which can cure many diseases faster than any medicine. Nature has given us so much and in so much abundance, but we don’t even realize that. During our nature walks, we help you know the plants on roadside, in farms, on the side of the canal, also birds and insects and rodents and a lot more. We may also arrange our visit to some organic farms, where you can visit and understand the true sense of farming

Holi is a beautiful festival in a beautiful season, but just like the rest of the festivals, we are losing the essence of Holi too and are being more and more dependent on modern industrial market dumping hazardous chemicals into our lives. Our festivals were meant to make us healthy, while the festivals being celebrated nowadays are rather making us sick. We encourage people to make natural colours and play Holi with them. The colours are made from various leaves, fruits, vegetables, edible roots etc. Should you be interested in learning how to make colours, do get in touch with us.
