The production, consumption and dumping of cement – all three are highly polluting. They pollute soil, water and air to a great degree. Moreover, cement is not renewable, not long lasting and not even bio-degradable. All the great ancient buildings which are standing tall against the test of time were built using local natural materials. Even today, there are numerous buildings in villages which were built by local artisans and masons with local materials, local designing and local techniques and they are older than a hundred years. Inspired from such countless buildings, Nisargayan actively engages in natural building construction. The projects are expected to begin in March 2021. The effort shall involve working with clay, wood, stone, lime, bamboo etc. The participants shall get hands on experience with all the natural materials involved in the construction.
